Ralph Bakshi Tribute Mural

Here are some progress shots right up to the finished piece.
Brian Gasenzer and Myself have always wanted to tribute a mural to
one of our famed creator, illustrator, visionary and animator...

RALPH BAKSHI.
you will recognize his work from films as:
Fritz the Cat - Coonskin - Heavy Traffic - Wizards

From the background to the characters:

first steps are to block in back colors for the layout.

Loosely place colors - watercolor effect

Start rollin in a brooklyn block from the seventies.

some of these buildings were from the films while other details freestyled on spot.

Background all finished - back breaking since i did this COMPLETELY
with a roller. no brushes.

now for the characters - two of us tackled this section

the title was done through a friend of ours - both title and characters
were executed with Spray Paint. to give it that cell animation effect
over the background.

Final Product.
The mural was done for a business named Hood Hoprz - a few characters are
from other cartoon creators.. but mainly Ralph's work.

2009
Winnipeg, Canada. on Main and Machray street

Medusa in Creation

Here are the progression pics from the recently finished Medusa Painting for an upcoming show.

Had to go over this old one from 2004. That's what happens when
old paintings are in my place for far too long.

shape in the mood of the painting..

blocked in background - originally was gonna have a figure leaning
on a tree but later trashed that idea.
